Journalist Abhiram comes to Poompara to cover a television story of Massi- a rebel leader who is in the wanted list of police. Kasthuri helps Abhiram to meet Maasi. During this time kasthuri tells Abhiram of her dream of going for higher studies. During his stay at poompara ,one night Kasthuri and Abhiram stuck in a hut inside the forest due to unexpected heavy rain and storm. Next morning the villagers with their leader (Mooppan) caught them found in sleeping in a hut which incident leads to a forceful marriage of Kasthuri with Abhiram by the tribal community .He had no other option to save his life from the illiterate tribal villagers with weapons. Even though he married kasthuri, was unable to accept the truth. The villagers send Kasthuri with Abhiram to the City home. Kasthooriman (transl.Musk deer) is a 2003 Indian Malayalam-language romantic drama film written and directed by A. K. Lohithadas. The film shows the relationship developed between Sajan Joseph Alukka (Kunchako Boban) and Priyamvada (Meera Jasmine). The film was a blockbuster at the box office. Lohithadas remade this film in Tamil under the same title.

Plot[edit]

Sajan Joseph Alukka (Kunchako Boban) is a soft-spoken and studious young man, while his junior Priyamvada (Meera Jasmine) is smart and outgoing. Her close friend is in love with Sajan, but he avoids her by saying that his only ambition in life is to study hard and become an IAS.

But Priya follows him and digs out the truth that though he hails from a rich family, his father has now gone bankrupt and has no money even to pay the exam fee. On hearing this, her friend ditches him. Slowly Priya starts having a soft corner for him. She even pays his fees, but Sajan tries to avoid her and treats this as an insult.
